My research interests focus on China's increasingly assertive role in international relations. My Masters' research examines China's territorial claims in the South China Sea (SCS) and the impact its unilateralism has on international treaties and dispute resolution mechanisms. By using a theoretical framework that draws on various theories of IR, I further examine how concepts such as "sharp power", "lawfare", and traditional forms of realism and geopolitics inform China's claims of sovereignty in the SCS.
